Good Morning From God

Scripture For Today: Psalm 119:145-152 I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word..” Psalms 119:147 One of my favorite places to pray is on the rim of the Snake River canyon. While running in the morning or heading to they gym for a morning work out I will often stop and spend a few minutes with God along the rim of the Canyon and watch the rising of the sun. Each time God seems to do something just a little different to remind me that He is there and working. From time to time I will get there before first light and will be praying before dawn breaks on the sky. Often with my eyes closed in prayer I can feel the first rays of sun and open my eyes to a greeting that only God could make for me. Meet God first in the morning, let...

Morning Noon and Night

Scripture For Today: Psalm 55:1-23 “16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. 17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” Psalm 55:16-17 In the instant gratification culture of our day it has become increasingly uncommon for believers to be able to manage difficult circumstances in their lives with a correct view of God and His love and power. God in His power is able to deliver us from difficult circumstances, God in His love is willing to deliver us from difficult circumstances knowing ultimately that almost every difficult circumstance in our life is the product of our own choices to go our way instead of His. Believer instead of running and hiding from difficulties, flee to...

Silence Is Golden

Scripture For Today: Matthew 7:1-11 “7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” Matthew 7:7-11 Oswald Chambers wrote, “God’s silences are His answers. If we only take as answers those that are visible to our senses, we are in a very elementary condition of grace.” God sometimes answers our...

Watch Your Lead

Scripture For Today: Galatians 2:1-21 “And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.” Galatians 2:13 While serving in the United States Army I was providing logistical support to a series of convoys from Fort Ord, California to the Oakland Army Depot to prepare to deploy overseas. Our course was simple, straight up Interstate 101, across the Bay Bridge, and into Oakland Army Depot. At the height of rush hour on the second day a radio call came from a new Lieutenant that he needed help. We soon found that he had taken a wrong turn and instead of being at the Army Depot, he was stuck at an intersection in downtown San Francisco trying to turn a convoy around and causing a major...

Ready For Inspection

Scripture For Today: Exodus 39:43 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 Revelation 4:10 “And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the Lord had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.” Exodus 39:43 One constant in the United States Army is the Command Inspection. Nearly every morning the command “prepare your platoon for inspection” is given and soon after the condition and preparation of the uniforms worn by the soldiers are closely examined by the commander. Every thing a soldier owns, uses, or does is subject to inspection at any time without advance notice. Once an inspection is announced, the leader of the unit that is being inspected prepares them and then reports to the commander conducting the inspection;...

The Worthy Stand Together

Scripture For Today: Philippians 1:27-30 “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;” Philippians 1:27 “Red rover, red rover, send Jimmy right over”. These words have echoed across playgrounds and parks for years. As Jimmy runs toward the line of the opposing team hoping to bust through their interlocked arms and score a victory for his team, the other side tightens their grip, sets their feet, and encourages one another to hold on tight, not give in, and repel the attack of Jimmy. The strongest team wins, the team that holds together as opponent after...
