Scripture For Today: Exodus 39:43 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 Revelation 4:10

“And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the Lord had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.”
Exodus 39:43

One constant in the United States Army is the Command Inspection. Nearly every morning the command “prepare your platoon for inspection” is given and soon after the condition and preparation of the uniforms worn by the soldiers are closely examined by the commander. Every thing a soldier owns, uses, or does is subject to inspection at any time without advance notice. Once an inspection is announced, the leader of the unit that is being inspected prepares them and then reports to the commander conducting the inspection; “ready for inspection, Sir”. The Bible teaches us that we too as soldiers in God’s army will stand and have our work inspected one day.

The only way I can be sure of having rewards when I stand for inspection is to strive to live each moment of each day according to the instructions God has given to build my life for His habitation – God’s Holy Word!

In this verse the people of Israel have received instruction from The Lord through Moses on how to build the tabernacle. This tabernacle would soon be the place where God would manifest His presence among the children of Israel. Here He would talk with Moses face to face, receive sacrifices for sin, and receive worship and praise. Over several chapters of the book of Exodus God gave specific instructions on the material, size, and manner of construction of each item that was included in the tabernacle of God. He gave certain men and women among the nation special abilities to prepare them, and provided all the needed resources with much to spare. Now they had completed the work given and brought it before Moses that it might be examined and measured for its conformity to the instructions of God. They had preformed the work “…as The Lord had commanded, even so had they done it…”. They passed inspection because the result of their work was a reflection of the exact instruction that God had given. The Word of God says they were rewarded with a blessing from Moses. I am convinced that they believed any work to be done for God was worthy to be done with all their might.

In First Corinthians we are told that the work of our lives in Christ will stand before the inspection of our great commander Jesus Christ. “Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.” 1 Corinthians 3:13. The judgment of Jesus Christ will examine as fire every work of our lives since we have been saved to see if it is suitable to be used for the glory of God. If any of the work of our lives remains as suitable for His glory, we shall receive a reward. “If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.” 1 Corinthians 3:14.</strong> That reward is a crown or crowns that we will take to the Holy throne room of God and offer to Him for His glory and not our own. “The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4:10-11. The inspection of our lives will come at any time, we must be ready. The only way I can be sure of having rewards when I stand for inspection is to strive to live each moment of each day according to the instructions God has given to build my life for His habitation – God’s Holy Word. Live ready for inspection!
